We had a really solid experience with Italy-Accom. We made our way across Italy staying in apartments, and our Rome experience was MUCH better than our Venice one (through veniceapartments.org). I would encourage you to consider apartments, and I would be happy to rent via this site again.

Casa Francesca was ideal for the 2 of us. It was comfortable, well-maintained and just so convenient to everything we wanted to see and do. It was great to be able to stroll to Campo di Fiori each morning for fresh fruit for breakfast.
